ho ho ho
if anyone still reads this blog... MERRY CHRISTMAS
i am not very good with words... so I can only wish you all the best! ok that was a joke!! I wish that all of you may havve almost everything you asked for. but not those things you asked your parents, or mates... i wish you can havee all of those small (or gigant) things that you don't say out loud. I wish those secrets wishes may come true.
for all of us, for 2009, i wish... another EVS meeting!!!
i also wish Barbarela a happy birthday (23rd Dec)!!
Merry Xmas, happy new year
lot's of love, sex, good food, better drinks and not many sweets!
right now, if I could I would hug you so so so strong that your bones would crack!! =)
It s me, Gigi!
So, first thing to happen, I visited Brussels at the very beginning of the month for 4 days. It was a short "business" trip where I had a meeting with the other members of cultural booklet project team and we developed our project. For more information you can read my blog, traintrip, but in general it was a nice opportunity to find myself abroad and Brussels is a beautiful city!
From 5th Dec to 14th December I was the Coordinator of a informal education training we organised (by we I mean AEGEE-Patra). We had to find accommodation, food, conference room, organise sightseeing, an excursion and the parties (last but not least :D) and actually we were working from 9 to what time the party ends every day.... Add to this the riots that happened here and the need to protect and make this bunch of foreigners feel safe and you have the whole picture... :D Anyway, the whole event was very rewarding cause it was very successful at the end, everybody had a great time provided by AEGEE-Patra :D
To finish the story of my December, one more thing to say.... I got a job as Santa Claus :D Actually two jobs, one was last Monday, I visited a school hired by the parents' association and offered presents to small students, it was so funny! :D This Saturday I will be Santa in Carefour, the french supermarket, come and see me :D I dont have pictures from the school but I plan to make several on Saturday, I ll post for sure :D
So, this was briefly my December... I wish everybody MEEERRRRYYYY CHRISTMAAAASSSS
and a really really really HAAAAPPPYYYYYYY NEW YEEEEAAAARRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!

Re: New EVS in your project
do you know the next volunteers in your project??
today, i was talking with Luis (few lines down you will understand who is Luis) and I just realized that I FUCKING MISS YOU! Portuguese people are known for being melancolic and sad, for being to much attached to their roots, their people, their music. you know me, not always like this! if you can, try to find the meaning of the portuguese word "Saudade" and you will understand how i feel today! I miss specially Lena and Thomas, my brothers during the last months of my EVS. Without them I would have left Estonia earlier, and you know it...
so, today, the day of the "mellon collie and the infinite sadness", i here leave you with a challenge! So, do you know the volunteer who followed you in your project?? Have you ever talked to him/her? As you know I met some of the volunteers that followed you in your projects, so I can help you to find them. my challenge is: FIND THE VOLUNTEER WHO FOLLOWED YOU IN YOUR PROJECT. GET HIM/HER TO TALK ABOUT IT!
so, I met one of the volunteers that followed me. He is called Luis Alonso, 22, spanish. he arrived in Tallinn in May, and just a few days after he came to Portugal for that Youth Exchange I was preparing, remember? So, i spent a week with Luis, and we have been talking (on msn) on a daily baisis. I here let you his interview for SIIN's website (for the same feature I interviewed some of yoou!)
"My European Voluntary Service", by Luis Alonso
Luis Alonso, 22 , is an EVS volunteer in Tallinn since March 2008. He is working in a project called "UPDATE", and hosted by the NGO "Youth Union SiiN", during the whole year. As him, tens and tens of volunteers choose Estonia to develop their projects. Here we have a little interview with him some days after his arrival.
Why did you decide to be European Volunteer?
Well, I wanted to do this year some kind of long project as a volunteer. I participated in 3 international workcamps during the lasts years and there were a great and enjoyable experience for me, but I wanted to join in a biggest and longer project, and when I heard something about EVS, I took all the enough information about it, read everything, and I realized that it is an opportunity that you can do only one time in your life, so I think that at my age and in this stage of my life now was the best moment to get involved in a project like this.
I did all the arrangements with my sending organization, and when they asked me about the projects and the countries, I answered that it would be better if I do one project far from my home, so when I saw “Tallinn” , I didn´t hesitate in trying to take this one.
Actually, the most important thing is the project, all of them are interesting, but its has to motivate you a lot, so if the project is very good for you, and you like the place where you do that, the answer is excellent, and your motivation is total. Working in an international atmosphere and multiculturalism are things which I love, and I can feel them and enjoy in this project I have been chosen.
Why this project?
My project is related with media, youth information, and multicultural dialogue. For the beginning we are going to develop a portal (UPDATE project) about youth information , doing also by youngsters, and there they will develop different topics related with youth mobility, the opportunities of going abroad and develop different kind of projects thanks to “Youth In Action Programme”, and so on.
On the other hand , I´m going to organize activities to our youngsters, and I have total freedom to propose new things to do ( It would be interesting something like short films, creative and artisitic expression, cuissine, and so on..) That is another positive point of my project, total freedom to do new things, or things that I could consider interesting, as well as my bosses and the youngsters, obviously.
Other part which is very interesting of my project is the area related with the Intercultual Dialogue. Our organization works very actively in the EU Programme “All different, all equal”, with the participation of youngsters in different seminars related with this topic and organizing them aswell. We want that young people have clearly the meaning that every person is the same as the other without distinctions for any reason; everybody has the same rights, because we are just the same. We are people.
Why Tallinn, why one year?
In my opinion, you know better a place when you are there, living, get into the daily life, knowing people… you can taste the atmosphere much better than if you go only as a tourist during some days. And also you know more about the situation, way of live, of the society in this city, town, country, and so on. You understand much better different situations which couldn´t you know if you are not at the exact place where happens.
One year is the maximum time you can be in an EVS project, and I chose it because we, as a volunteer, have only one chance to do a project like these, so I want to get involved and enjoy it as much time as I can. I read before previous experiences of EVS volunteers in intenet, and really the majority who had 6 months projects finished so happy, but after that time they wanted have chosen a largest project because they were enjoying it so much when it stopped! So I didn´t have any doubt in order to select one year long term project.
What are your feelings here these first days?
About my feelings here in the first days… they are very good.
I arrived to Tallinn, 5 days after it I went to Portugal 8 days in an international youth exchange, and I am again in Tallinn, so sometimes I don´t know where I am, how old I am, or what my name is!!
But by now my adaptation is going well, I´m knowing the city, which is so beautiful!! I´ll discover everything better with the time, and I have taken notes and information about a lot of places and things before my arrival and I want to visit and see here.
Weather is not as cold as I was waiting for… but we are having a strange winter everywhere. Anyway, in one year I will have the opportunity to know better the real Tallinn´s winter, he he.
Furthermore, the city where I am from is colder than the southern cities, so I can adapt myself better, hehe. Even more… I like snow, hehe! And here we have had snow, now sun…. everything is enjoyable!
What about your future expectations?
It´s soon to make a big summarize of my work these first days, I´m just landing! He he. But my expectations are very good, I have met the youngsters I am going to work with, and they are nice, open minded, laborious and funny people! I´m not feeling alone these first days thanks to them and l think we have a very good team work.
People I´m knowing here have a lot of initiative, and they want also make me feel like at home, so it´s grateful! I´m begining to know some volunteers with other projects in the city too, really kind and open minded people, and I will know more in the near future, so think this multicultural and international atmosphere will be possible this year in Tallinn thanks to all I said before. We will know a lot of things about each other cultures, and in my opinion, mixture of all the cultures make to get rich a person more than any money.
Besides, I´m going to learn a lot of new things about media and communications, with the help of the organization and a volunteer who is a professional journalist and will do the project with us. I think that I will contribute to let to our youngsters know new interesting things, but I am sure that they will do the same with me, I will learn a lot of things from them. It will be a big multicultural exchange, which is good for everyone!
Do you miss somebody or something?
Maybe you can miss your friends or family at the beginning, but on the other hand this is an experience which I´ll always remind, an important stage of my life. One year is one year, and I´m beginning to make new friends here and meeting with very interesting people, so I am sure that within one year I will not want leave Tallinn, and I´ll miss all these friends I will make here. But it´s better not to think in the end, I have just arrived!!
What will be different after your EVS experience?
In my opinion, it will be a personal and professional development for me, an important stage of my life. About other volunteer´s experiences, I know that some fears or doubts about what they would be able to do before the EVS disappeared after doing that. They are now ready to do more things in every different aspect. This year of volunteering will be also to get know better myself. When I will return to my country, I will see some things different than before the EVS project, and I will can do or prepare things that I couldn´t do if I were not in a project like this.
(Luis Alonso in the first picture, taken in Lisbon. Can anyone tell me where??)So, i hope you guys can follow me in this challenge. I would like to hear about the people that followed you... some of them are already gone from Eesti... hope you make it!
just one information more: THOMAS IS BACK IN TALLINN!!!

Wednesday, 1 October 2008
As i promited to you, there are some more pictures from Denmark.
I took all of them during my last trip in the north of Denmark.
First we went to a Viking cimetery. It's one of the bigger in Europa and it's near Aalborg where I live.
After that, we went to the end of Denmark where the North sea and the Baltic sea meet. It's very nice to see that and the weather was nice as you can see.
You are right, it was the champion league so in Aalborg they put some big screen and we went to see the match !! Aalborg lost but it was not a real surprise !!
They are erasmus and they don't have the same expectations of their stay here. And for me it's hard because I'm here just for a short time, I arrived after them and I'm not studying...
But I still have a lot of nice time with some spanish, belgium and french guys.
I miss you a lot.
See you soon

3 - Christian!
all the otheres were desqualified! but please send it to me when you can, if you can! I will make cd's to everyone and post it by mail, ok? for the winners, i am just figuring out what present to send... you must wait a bit!
second news is that I was accepted in a post graduation studies! So, i am going back to Uni, on weekends!! the studies are about "Local press" and it will take me one year to get the degree. the bad news about this is that I have to pay 1500 euro, plus 200km trip every weekend... so, no weekends for me, no money, no personal life! Of course this will affect tremendously the travels i had planned... although things are not expensive I am totally broken! so, my priority now is Laulupidu. i dont think i will make it for new year's eve! but i will keep on trying, of course!
third news is: i am pregnant!

the "portoghese" in the world
during the portuguese "discovery age", a portuguese navigatort discoverd India and all it's spices and exotical goods. After this, as a religious people, the portuguese decided to take some samples of cinamon, pepper, ginger and other stuff to Rome, to show it to the Pope. At this time, the Pope decided that the portuguese would not have to pay for anything while in Rome, for they had brought so much healthy to Europe. therefore, the portuguese started to be known, in Italy, as the ones who were able to enter everywhere without paying. Form then on "portoghese" became the meaning of those who entered concerts, futeball matches, ceremonies, etc, without paying! In Italy, the "portoghese" are the bastards that don't pay what they should!
Is this true, Chri??
oh, and by the way, why no one writes on this fucking blog??????? are you all in holidays, with your lazy asses on the sand, getting brown?? where are you guys? I demand some answers, otherwise I won't pick you up from the airport in September!!

the non european countries euro cup
i am back from london (yeah, Ben I am in Portugal already...). so, i didn't find Donna, I didn't go to Fabric (cause there were thousands of people making a line at 11 pm...), but I am back happy.
I 'm owing some beers to Barbara, right... I will pay, no worries. Actually Chri is helping me to pay this! I am really sorry that our countries are out. but I am worst about having a goal keeper like Ricardo... Isaand!!
Now I bet that the final will be Russia vs Turkie! Russia has showed good futball, and it's the first time they go to euro cup since 91... they deserve it! and Turkie... you know, when some one is lucky, portuguese people say that person has a litle star over his shoulder. Well, Turkie has a fucking constelation illuminating their way. But anyway, I would prefer Russia to win! so, I bet one bottle of Porto wine on Russia! who's in?
in London I met some english man that told me: "Don't be sorry or sad cause your team got kicked out. England was never in!" eh eh eh it made me smile! So, this is also for the french, the greek, the italians...
i only hope that a non european union country wins this bloody tournament! ;)

the beginning of my summer
Plus that I am going cause the trip costed only 30 euro in that ryan air promotion I told you about. I am also going 'cause I have been twice in London... inside of the airport!!!
but there are 2 real reasons Why I am going there for the weekend: first I am going to a drum n bass party @fabrics, as I always wanted to go, as a real drum n bass fan!!
and my second mission is to find Donna and bring news to you!! I never met her, ok. but I know that if I see her on the street I will recognize her for sure! so... wish me luck!! (i am not joking!!)
happy GG??
as for the rest of my simple life... everything is fine. A week ago I was working for 5 days in a food tent in as organizations market in my town. I was making crepes with Lena's receip and Aude's frying pan... and it was a major success, of course! All the kids wanted and my friens are fatter now... eh eh eh
i have been to the beach, finally!! So, I got my real color back, not my estonian look! I look like me again! Maybe you wouldn't notice a diference, but in my mind and my sould it makes a huge difference to lay on the beach and dive in the cold ocean! I LOVE IT!!
i bought some nice present for Kelig today... if anyone else wants something just let me know... Portugal is still a cheap country for some stuff!
ah!! tomorrow I am going to interview one of my favourite musicians!! he is from my home town and just edited a new work (2 cd's with 40 musics each and a 140 pages book) that sould out in 2 weeks!! He was my platonic love when I was a teenager... you can listen to some of his musics here they are all in portuguese, but... the pictures are also his and the videos are quite nice! so, I leave you with Manel Cruz... and I am so excited that I wont be able to sleep tonigh... i am quite sure!!
I love you all, always in my sun tanned heart!!
les blues?...a la maison hihihi :)

You know you are from Estonia when...
1. You use the word ‘normal’ if something is ok.
2. When visiting friends abroad you bring along a box of Kalev chocolate.
3. You attended a song festival at least once either as a performer or as a spectator.
4. You know that going to the sauna is 80% about networking and 20% about washing
5. You are nationalistic about Skype (it is actually an Estonian company)
6. ‘Kohuke’ belongs to your menu
7. You declare your taxes on the internet like all modern people
8. You actually believed for a while that Latvians had 6 toes per foot when you heard that as a child
9. You are convinced that Estonia is very strategically located
10. You spent at least one midsummer in Saaremaa, Hiiumaa or one of the smaller islands
11. You can quote films like "Viimne reliikvia" and "Siin me oleme"
12. You spit three times around your left shoulder for good luck
13. Words like "veoauto", "täieõiguslik" or "jää-äär" sound perfectly pronounceable to you
14. You like bold statements (such as this one... ;-) ) and sarcasm
15. You can at times drink hot tea to hot food
16. You are disappointed that Jaan Kross never got the Nobel prize in literature
17. It would not be surprising for English-speakers to find your name naughty (Peep, Tiit, Andres [sounds like undress]) or hippy (Rein, Rain)
19. you say 'noh' (sounds like NO) even when you speak English, just to confuse people
It's just some sentence from my estonian teacher Teve.
If you know some other, can you post them, she wants our feeling.
I post this just before my very nice trip in Switherland.

Lost and Found...
It's been quiet around me...I know. Sorry. I suck at keeping contact, which I know.
So first of all Happy belated birthday to all of those that I did not send a birthday wish(so basicly all of you...gosh...I'm horrible! Sorry again!).
I LOVE the new heading by the way!
So what's been happening with me....
I really settled in in my new home in Münster. I love this city more and more: beautiful old town, the students’ spirit, all those bikes everywhere and especially now in spring (or rather summer as it feels like) Münster is more lively than ever, because everyone get out their barbecues and sits in the park to enjoy the sun and their beer. I’m not much of a photographer, so I don’t have any pictures, but I’ll make up for that. Or you just come over and see for yourselves (please do!).
So short version of the last few months: surcvied first semester, joined student’s council, drank Estonian beer in Berlin, ate Kohuke with Laura, visited Katha in Halle (and found a bar that serves Viru Valge), spent my semester break studying for stupid chemistry exam, started second semester, had Katha over in Münster (and also Ben for a couple of hours), met the German minister of health during a conference of the German pharmacy students’ association.
Yeah…sounds quite like it. Uni is quite fun so far and it actually leaes me some free time., so I’m taking Russian classes again. It’s quite fun actually and I enjoy being around other students who are not pharmacists (don’t get me wrong, I like my fellow students a lot. But most other pharmacists are science-people, so it feels good to be around people who have a different perspective on life/way of thinking).
Now I’m in my parents’ garden because it’s witsun-break (although not a single person cares about that holiday anymore, but hey…it gives me a week off!). I feel quite restless and want to go travelling but again…a n exam is ahead, so I’ll just save my travelling-energy till the summer! I’m REALLY looking forward to it and can’t wait.
Seeing Laura and Katha and Ben again really made me appreciate the EVS-spirit again. And I miss you guys!! Even if I never write or I’m not on MSN (turns out I’m not much of a messenger person). And I still do check the blog quite often….
Mhh…that’s it for now. I hope you hear form me more often now!
Miss you all!

one year later
one year later, I still remember the difficult moments shared with you
one year later, l have the feeling you will be in my heart and in my mind for all my life
many thinghs happened since that 4th may 2007, nice and not nice things, happy and not happy moments, but is the life by the way.
I still remember the time after estonia, I was so fucking depressed and sad, always thinking you in estonia: while you were working, having dinner, spending time in front of barbecue, having party, sleeping and dreaming!
just right, one year later l have opposite feelings, sad because we are not togheter (phisically) anymore, and in the same time happy because I think I was really lucky to have found you in that disappeared country, it was not obvious create a familiar atmosphere as someone can imagine, we learnt to accept ourself just like we were with our assets and defects, of couse sometimes we had problems, but this is the point, we acrossed them!!!!!
ok l don t want be pathetic anymore, but just say tou thank s and send you hugs and kisses with all my heart!!!!!
