One picture, one thousand words

Sometimes we tend to believe that something unique is something good... :D

EVS music

I just wanted to say thanks to all the people for sending lirics for our crazy songs. It's so great and I really feel like we are still together and it seems for me that after work I will go back to our apartment in Lasnamae, have pasta dinner and then we will go somewhere all together.
Love you all people.
Wait for you in Tallinn.

just selling my fish!

hello babes,

Today I was talking with Doro (ex-EVS in Võru) and she was asking me about our meeting in Portugal! If it still on, when, blá blá. And the we started talking about the festival, we are supposed to go. So I found some movies on youtube, that I have to share with you!
http://youtube.com/watch?v=ZeF7CG49LOw
this is the long one. About this video: "the last Carvalhesa of the year. Next year we will be there"

http://youtube.com/watch?v=E4t8FaHTRJY
and this the short one
About this video: "No words to describe"

this music (Carvalhesa) is a tradicional song from the north of the country, and since 85 it is the official song of the fest! Basically it opens and closes the fest every day, and when it plays... this is what happens!! People go crazy! Wikipedia says that: The party itself consists of a three day festival of music, with the participation of hundreds of Portuguese and international bands and artists in five different stages, ethnography, gastronomy, debates, a book & music fair, theatre (Avanteatro) and sporting events. Several foreign communist parties also participate."
In the portuguese version it says: "The Festa do Avante is the party of the Portuguese Communist Party, work of the communists, during 3 days. It is the biggest political and cultural organization made in Portugal. It is open to everyone and respects and welcomes all people. Every year, since 1976, it is made with voluntee work of about 12 000 volunteers, working around 20 000 hours to build, decorate and equip the 22 000 sqare metres of the fest."

Just one small note more: we never lived under a communist regime... maybe that is why we held such a big fest. Though nowadays, by the amount of non-communist people that joint the party, it has became a portuguese cultural manifestation more than a political one. So I really guess it is the best way to present you to my country! You will see it's art, food, music, folkclore, dances, politicians and all sort of people...

ah! and in 2005 Bush has been kiddnaped. At least in the Party there was a painting about it...

so, are you ready? book your flights!

Rock Thomas Star!!

Saturday night, we had a very special and romantic beginning of evening! Thomas, finally gave a concert, in a russian coffee place! It was short, but very very nice! Thom perfomed like a real rock star he is!! Actually Margo (Mari's brother said he looked like a punk rock star, and know he wants to organize a concert for Thom in Juksuur, where he would be playing drums and another guy the bass!!)

so, here is our rock star!!
As he performed, his fans, mostly girls, clapped and screamed all the time!!

here is a proof od the happiness in their faces! Ah! and the new Saska's hairstyle! She arranged for the concert with the place owner and Thomas! She is no blond anymore, but the new style really fits her!
After the concert, me and the girls went to Von Krahl. Remember the Võit CLub parties with crazy estonian girls dancing like black women? Now these parties are in Von Krahl! It is better to get there and we have more space, but it is fucking expensive... still we had fun!
And as we got to Levist, 4 am, Thomas was there, drunk as a rock star, telling to everyone that he speaks the language of love!!! "Dire pas à ma mére..."

Hi from a busstop in Münster!

Yesterday I sat in the bus stop and was reading an article about hospitality club...all sounded quite familiar! It warmed my heart to think back of our Russia trip and when it said "with some luck you'll get from Estonia to Portugal without sleeping in a hotel" of course I had to think of you!
we'd manage that for sure!
And guess what happened then: the Eurolines bus to Tallinn was passing by!

Studies are killing me! I can't find the time to wrap my head around all this stuff and everybody seems to be smarter than me. And I really have to get used to be in uni from 8 in the morning until 6 pm. But to be honest....I already skip most of my 8 o'clock classes, since it's chemistry and we hear all of that 3 times anyway. I have to courses each day with Doro! But well...those are the ones I stopped going to!

Lab is fun though...I managed 2 weeks with a horrible lab partner but he's gone now so I work with a friend of mine. Only half the stuff we do actually works, but we have a good time. And you feel so important running around in those white lab-coats with our name tags, because we look like the most important doctors in the universe.
It’s really though studies, but oh well...I'll stick thru it and in 4 years time I'll be able to sell/make you the finest medication in all of Europe. So next time you have a hangover…you know who to call, hehe.

I’m going to Paris in 3 weeks…I’m quite excited! A friend of mine from Brazil studies there for a few months, so another friend and I are dropping by to meet her. Anyone else want to join?

Love you all, miss you all…

Are you really 26 now? :DDD

Friday 9 November 2007

Now it is oficial

Almost all borders in Europe will fall in December. 26 countries will allow the free circulation of european citizens from 21st of December on. Nine of the ten countries that joined the union in 2004 will finally join the Schengen zone of freee circulation of people. The decision was taken yesterday by the 27 ministers of Internal Affairs. Therefore, Estonia, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Latvia, Lithuania and Malta will drop their controls in internal terrestrial and maritime borders. Ciprus decided to stay out for now, dues to it's situatuion of divided island. In what concerns to Bulgaria and Romenia, that only joined the Union in late January, the preparations are still a bit delay.
In the airports, where the abolishment of borders implies a separation between domestic flighs and those external to the Schengen zone, the free circulation of people will start only in March 2008.
Already in the Schengen Zone are Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Portugal and Spain (since 1995), Italy and Austria (since 1997), Greece (since 2000) and Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden (since 2001).
Yesterday, the ministers concluded that the nine countries now joinning Schengen have a satisfactory level of preparation to apply in a good way both conditions necessary to be a Schengen country. The first condition is connected with the security level in the external borders (aerial, terrestrial and maritime), that will now be entrance gates in the Schengem zone. Therefore the new countries have to reinforce the control, data protection rules and the visa rules. The second condition has a technical caracter and it has to do with the obligatory conection of the new countries to the Schengen Information System (SIS), a gigant database of all relevant information for the security services. This was possible due to an informatic solution developped in Portugal, that allows to the new members to be connected in a temporary basis to SIS (which was thought to be impossible), untill the new system SIS II is ready to operate, in one year.

a point of order in this mess!!

my dear italian and greek fellows;

let's see if I can clear up your minds. I have the cooking book, for several weeks, now!
You don't have to be jelous or angry, or pretend to!!
Aude sent me the book, so that I could give my opinion on it, correct some english mistakes and add some os Lena's recipes. So, shut he fuck up, because the only reason I had the book before you was to make it better for you!!!
And, I am quite sure that if Aude is taking so long to send it to you is because she is making t even better and more beautifull!!
So, stop complaining, before I break your noses! As I told before, if there is anything special that you feel like you have to eat (like pregnant woman do) just tell me and I will send you the recipe! If not... WAIT!!!
Now, come crawling asking for my forgiveness... maybe you will be lucky!
and one more thing: Chri, you almost got me with that Boycott to portuguese food. but then you wrote "eat Mc Do!" and that is not you, you communist!! by the way, happy 90º anniversary of the October Revolution!

Berlin wall

There was a news report yesterday about a survey published on Wednesday in German press. The findings reveal that one out of five Germans would like to see the Berlin Wall back. http://www.expatica.com/actual/article.asp?subchannel_id=26&story_id=45713
I found it interesting and I wanted to share with you, especially German readers and contributors of this blog. Why do you think about 20% of German population would like a new wall separating West and East?

Gigi, having rather philosophical interestes :)

What about the cooking book?

Tere to everybody! I dont have any extraordinary news to post, life is normal in the south-east part of Europe, but I want to make a statement. What happened to the cooking book Aude? You dont want to give us anymore? :(((I d like to taste again the meals we tasted during EVS. Its part of the experience, please Aude!! I feel very nostalgic lately , help me go back to my EVS period through the sense of taste....

By the way, a message to Christian: I made your aubergines, they are very nice:)))

Lazy Ukrainian!!!

Tere, ciao, privet, ola, salut etc.!

First of all I wanted to say that I'm so fucking happy that you all are writing posts to the blog, so it really feels like we are one big international family. Chri I liked your post and your wishes:).

You all already know that I'm back to Tallinn and probably think that I'm a lazy Ukranian, who didn't write for too long about how is it going and all the rest. To tell you the truth - I'm very lazy, so my smal slow brain is not able to work much and as I have to work now to get my money from 10am to 6pm, usually I'm not able to put any posts after that.

But you are my family now I hope you will forgive me.

So, now it's my turn to give you some news about Tallinn life, last weekend was really nice. On Friday we had a dinner in African kitchen, organised by ex-EVS volunteers and we ate and ate and ate (never skip a chance to feed our Estonian babies:P) - and as you know food there is really delicious. As well that was also I think the last night this year, when it was possible to stay and drink outside.

And now, I must tell you, that I have my personal achievement: you all remember Lesia's good-bye party and my nice experience with vodka, that evening, so on Saturday Marta (a Spanish teacher that lives in Barbara's and Catha's flat now) and Lee made a nice Spanish Tortilia Party with lots of Sangria. The party was big fun and I managed not to puke all night on, next morning I even went to Rapla at 7am :).

Here is me on that seminar, pretty tired, but still able to make tea and coffee.
You can see that last weekend was quite funny here in Tallinn and if you by any chance missed it, so grab your bags and come here to visit me, pleeeaaaaaasssssseeeeee.
Musi-musi.

autumn came and the "active citizenship" start

hu guys,
autumn came, poeple become to be less active for many reasons but in my country usually is time, at least for someone, to start a new season of political and social contrapposition. don t worry l don t want write my opinion about political life in Italy because l did many time in estonia, I want just make you know that the map in our blog is really significative to see the distribution of richness. of course we don t need of a map to know that USA is the richest (or most rich) state in the world and Africa the continent which has rich resources but economicly poor and socially drammatic. Development theories say that a lot of reasons are in the bases of this un-human situation.
Maybe you could think that always fuel thinghs came from me...and you are right, l agree, but autumn came, for everybody start (lee for you will come soon) a new life in the university, at work etc. that s why I wish you all the best making you know that I am alive, and fighting to see in our blog a red point came from africa! You know lt s simbolic
members of blog and dear visitors,by the way you are always welcome, stay cool and think that we didn't have this planet by our parents, we borrow it from our sons!
pacific hugs

P.s. continue to write
